Build a Team of Champions
Implementing a defibrillation program requires teamwork, public support, and expert guidance. Build a small but effective team by recruiting members from some of the following groups:
  • Emergency medical services personnel, such as the Medical Director and EMS Coordinator
  • The Mayor, town/city managers, or city council members
  • Public safety officials, such as Fire or Police Chief
  • Healthcare practitioners
  • Business leaders
  • Civic group leaders
  • Local college and school system representatives
  • Senior citizen organization representatives
  • Members of CPR training groups (e.g., American Heart Association, American Red Cross)
  • Members of local media (e.g., television or newspapers)
  • Local "celebrity"
  • Concerned citizens
  • SCA survivors and their family and friends.
  • Defibrillation programs also need hands-on medical guidance to ensure quality, compliance to protocols, training, and support.
