At Home
Sudden cardiac arrest occurs in the home more often than in any other non-clinical setting. When you or a loved one dials emergency medical services (usually 911), you want to ensure that the response vehicle is equipped with a defibrillator. Find out how many emergency response vehicles in your community carry defibrillators. If many are not equipped, speak to local government officials about starting a defibrillation program.
If you or a family member is an at-risk individual, you may consider keeping an AED in your home and seeking CPR/AED training for your family.
