Medical Facilities
Even health care facilities can expand their defibrillation programs to ensure prompt treatment for patients, visitors, and staff. For instance, some locations that could benefit from defibrillation programs include dialysis centers, nursing homes, physician offices, dental offices, waiting rooms, urgent care centers, cafeterias, and parking lots.
Hospitals are adding AEDs to areas outside the coronary care units and electrophysiology laboratories (i.e., areas where patients are closely monitored, and staff are trained to defibrillate). This strategy helps reduce the response time to unmonitored patients, visitors, and staff when the need arises.
